Strange Cristiano Ronaldo Stat Proves He Shouldn't Worry About Lack Of Goals

The Juventus striker has yet to open his Serie A goal account but there's no need for the five time Ballon d'Or winner to worry.

Cristiano Ronaldo may be the player in Europe with the most shots without scoring a goal so far this season but a strange quirk proves that there is no need for Ronaldo to worry just yet.

When Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in the summer most people were expecting that the Portuguese striker would simply pick up with the Old Lady where he left with Real Madrid, just scoring goal after goal.

Some of my colleagues began predicting that Serie A's lesser quality than that of La Liga meant that the five time Ballon d'Or winner would hit the 40 goal mark before we reached 2019, maybe a slight exaggeration, but they certainly felt he'd knock in 40 for the season.

The season might be young but it's not been a good start for Ronaldo as he's played 270 minutes of Serie A football without finding the back of the net.

It's not without want of trying though as the former Manchester United forward has had 23 shots at goal without managing to find the back of the net. Some might thing that's a worry but an eerie stat about his start at Real Madrid proves otherwise:

Real and Ronaldo had a really poor start to last season when it came to the league but they kept their form up in the Champions League group stage, even though they finished behind Spurs.

Eventually though the team recovered to finish third, behind champions Barcelona and local rivals Atleti, with Ronaldo bagging 26 goals in the league to only finish behind Lionel Messi, who scored 34.

Despite the fact their £89 million record signing hasn't found the back of the net yet the Old Lady are still top in the Serie A standings, having won all three of their games so far.

Max Allegri is obviously finding goals from elsewhere in his team but at some point it's going to click for his 33 year old striker and at that point it'll be a worry for the whole league.

I just hope he doesn't score 40 so I can boast to my colleagues...
