If there's one man who knows what it takes to be a player at Anfield it's Steven Gerrard. Now a youth coach at Liverpool the club's former captain has named one player he'd love Jurgen Klopp to sign.

In 17 seasons as a Premier League player for Liverpool Steven Gerrard saw some of the best players of their modern era, Xabi Alonso, Jamie Carragher, Luis Suarez and Fernando Torres for example, and some of the worst, like Salif Diao!

Things are somewhere in the middle for the Reds right now with the attacking side of things pretty good with the likes of Philippe Coutinho, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino amongst the best attacking units in the Premier League.

At the back things are a bit more questionable with Jurgen Klopp unable to decide on his best goalkeeper whilst his defence looks short of confidence as they manage to make at least one goal causing mistake a match.

However talking to Sky Sports Gerrard revealed that he wished a striker would join Liverpool, in the form of Harry Kane:

"He is the in-form player in world football, in terms of goals scored and how he is playing...I've heard he is obsessed and relentless on the training ground. I am sure he is getting the rewards now for all that hard work.

"I am glad he is English, I wish he was a Red!"

Kane has been immense for Tottenham in recent weeks and scored 13 goals in eight appearances in September for England and Spurs, including seven in a week for Spurs, after failing to score in August.

Gerrard has also been impressed with the manner of the player adding, "I love the player and I love the character. I watch his interviews a lot and I have also met him on a couple of occasions. I think he is a perfect role model and an ambassador for the game. I love the way he goes about his work."

Most people would have thought that a defender would be Liverpool's priority this season with the team having already conceded 12 goals this season and scored 13 in the league but their inability to convert chances has still been an issue.

Kane at Liverpool is just a pipe dream, unfortunately for Gerrard.
