Manchester City could make a shock move for Manchester United flop Alexis Sanchez this summer, according to a report from Chile.

Sanchez has spent this season on loan at Inter, after his poor spell at Old Trafford since moving their from Arsenal two and a half years ago, and his form has started to return.

According to Chilean outlet La Cuarta, via Sports Witness, Pep Guardiola wants to sign that former Barcelona forward and the two parties have already held talks.

The report says that City have been in touch with the player's representatives to see 'what conditions' they'll need to meet in order to sign him from United.

Guardiola was interested in reuniting with Sanchez, having managed him at Barca, at City in summer 2017 and again in January 2018 but he moved to rivals United that January instead.

However things didn't go well at Old Trafford at all and he scored just five goals in 45 appearances in all competitions for Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The current manager didn't have him in his plans this season so allowed the forward to go on loan to Inter for the season.

Injuries once again stalled the former Udinese man's progress back in Italy but since football restarted the 31-year-old's form has improved, with seven assists in the Nerazzurri's nine games.

According to the report, United are ready to let Sanchez go for €19.2 million this summer and Antonio Conte's side would have been favourite to sign the forward, either on loan or another temporary deal.

City's interest in him could change things though and he's likely to be enticed by the idea of linking up with Guardiola again, and not at all put off by the two Manchester sides' rivalry.

Guardiola has seen Leroy Sane move to Bayern Munich already this summer, whilst David Silva is also leaving the club, and his squad requires strengthening for next season.

Their title defence didn't go well at all and they've seen Liverpool run away with the title, and are currently 18 points behind with two games to go.

The priority is likely to be strengthening the defence, with City having looked suspect at the back, but with Sane gone and more cover needed upfront a move for a rejuvenated Sanchez could be the perfect signing.
