Wednesday night was not the best evening of Jose Mourinho's managerial career as Spurs made Manchester United look absolutely average, at best. Despite Mourinho signing a new deal United already have an eye on his future replacement.
Jose Mourinho's away record against other members of the top six is often held up as being poor, for good reason, and things didn't even start well on Wednesday when his side were 1-0 down after 10.5 seconds.
From there though things rarely improved. The Red Devils showed fleeting moments of class going forward but were overrun in midfield and looked like they could concede everytime Mauricio Pochettino's side came forward.

Despite the poor performance United still sit comfortably in second in the league and Jose's recent contract means that he's unlikely to be under any pressure of losing his job anytime soon but that doesn't mean that the club haven't started thinking about their future.
According to the Manchester Evening News the Red Devils' hierarchy have put Spurs' boss Mauricio Pochettino at the top of their list of targets for when they come to replace Mourinho in the future.
The club have long admired the work the Argentine has done in the Premier League, first with Southampton and now making Spurs genuine contenders for silverware and a top four side.

At the moment the former Espanyol defender doesn't look like he'll be going anywhere and that works for the Old Trafford club who aren't currently looking to change managers.
Having won the Europa League and EFL Cup last season Jose did make eyes at the PSG job earlier this term but last week signed a new one year extension taking him to 2020.
Spurs move into their new stadium next season and the north London club will want to keep their team together at least for that first term but they will be wary of threats from other teams.

Pochettino's relative success will have put him on the shortlists of all of Europe's biggest clubs and both PSG and Real Madrid are likely to be soon after new managers so Spurs could come under pressure from both of them.
Who else could replace Mourinho?
