Manchester City Confirm Another Summer Signing

Not the one City fans expected

Manchester City have confirmed their second summer signing, with Australian international Aaron Mooy moving to City from sister club Melbourne City.

Mooy, who had an unsuccessful spell in England with Bolton Wanderers, joins the club on a three-year deal. But he's not expected to be around the Etihad Stadium for a lengthy period and will likely be sent on loan.

It is a similar situation to the signing of Luke Brattan, who was signed from Brisbane Roar but then loaned out to Bolton and then back to Australia with sister club Melbourne City. Brattan has again been loaned back to Melbourne along with Anthony Caceres.

Mooy has 14 caps for his country and won consecutive Player of the Year awards in his time at Melbourne. Last season, he notched an impressive 11 goals while reaching an A-League record of 21 assists.

City Football Group managing director Brian Marwood commented on the signing. Speaking to the offficial Melbourne City website, he said:

Aaron is an extremely talented player who possesses the attributes we hope to foster and encourage within the City Football Group. With the unique model CFG provides, Aaron's move to Manchester allows us to further expose him to a high standard of opportunities to ensure his professional growth.

He's clearly a talented player, but he will likely never actually don the sky blue shirt of Manchester City - the addition of Mooy another can be only be seen as another bizarre signing for the club.
