Ed Woodward In Secret Talks To Sign Manchester United Target

Jose Mourinho has been trying all summer to add a fourth signing to his Manchester United squad and the club aren't giving up.

Manchester United's first game of the season made most people sit up and take notice of their title credentials but Jose Mourinho still feels he's a player short. Fortunately for Mourinho Ed Woodward is still on the case.

Last year most people believed that the title was between the two Manchester clubs, clearly that was foolish, but a year on that opinion was once again popular with both United and City strengthening in the summer.

The first weekend of the new Premier League season gave us a glimpse as to why that was the case with Pep Guardiola's team keeping all the possession against Brighton and winning 2-0 and United looking more like United than they'd been in four years with a 4-0 win over West Ham.

Jose Mourinho has brought in three new faces into his squad this summer with Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku hitting the ground running at Old Trafford in their league debuts.

But that has reportedly not been enough for the former Real Madrid manager when it comes to new recruits. All summer he has apparently been after a fourth signing.

According to the Mirror the Red Devils are still interested in signing Inter winger Ivan Perisic and report that Ed Woodward has met with Fali Ramadani, the player's agent, in recent day to try and get the move done.

United have been trying to sign the 28 year-old pretty much all summer and have reportedly offered £39 million to the Italian side but so far Inter refuse to come down in price.

The Serie A side have themselves been linked with Anthony Martial and want closer to £48 million for their left winger, a price that the Red Devils have so far refused to pay.

Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference today, ahead of the Swansea game on Saturday, that he was happy with his squad, "I'm happy with my squad, we have future windows and I'm putting nobody under pressure."

With Marcus Rashford and Martial impressing in the space that Perisic would take up it's no surprise that Jose is relaxed, even if Woodward is having secret meetings.
