The price of relegation is too much to consider for any established Premier League team these days. So with that in mind it's no wonder Everton are throwing a lot of money at a manager who's never been relegated.

For being relegated last season Sunderland earned themselves £93,471,118 so it's no wonder that teams want to stick around in the Premier League, finishing 17th earns you over £100 million a year.

With Everton being absolutely hideous at football this season under Ronald Koeman they decided that the threat of losing out on all that money was too great so they sacked him and spent a month trying to find the perfect manager.

Sam Allardyce last night proved just how good he is by inspiring a team he's not even officially in charge of yet to a 4-0 hammering of West Ham.

When Big Sam does eventually put pen to paper and make everything official he's reported to be making an absolute packet. The former England manager has, according to the Express, agreed an 18 month contract paying him £115k-a-week/ £6 million a year/ £9 million for the entire time!

That sum of money will mean that the 63 year-old is earning more for his time at Goodison Park than Champions League winning manager Zinedine Zidane is earning at Real Madrid.

Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid, Mauricio Pochettino at Spurs, Unai Emery at PSG and Max Allegri at Juventus are all also earning less than the former Bolton Wanderers man who has never been relegated.

Writing in his column for Paddy Power recently the soon to be Everton manager wrote about the sides troubles saying, "Everton are obviously in a bad place at the moment and, like every football club that is struggling, it's mainly down to a loss of belief.

"The players' loss of belief in themselves and their lack of confidence means that the first thing the new manager needs to do is re-instil that confidence and morale in them again."

Can Allardyce get Everton going?
