Barcelona's interest in Philippe Coutinho is well documented and the Blaugrana followed up their interest with a mammoth £72 million bid last night.

The Blaugrana have been closely monitoring the situation for the best part of six months, and the rumours have not gone away despite the Brazilian signing a new long-term contract at Anfield, which sees him take in a reported £150,000-a-week, back in January.

Paul Joyce from The Times has reported that Barcelona have offered Liverpool £72 million to prise away the Red's talisman.

Barcelona are on the hunt for a new top-level attacking player, with the rumours of Neymar heading to PSG in a £196 million move seriously gathering pace.

Coutinho is the preferred option for the Nou Camp club, but Liverpool are in no position to sell their main man and Barca's bid has been immediately knocked back.

Jurgen Klopp, speaking in a press conference in Hong Kong, addressed the offer from Barcelona and stressed that he is not for sale at any price.

"Yes [he is not for sale], that's what we can say. But that's not since this morning or yesterday, I'm not sure if it was different at any time. So, yes.

"I'm not surprised that any club is interested in players, if it is like this. A few people obviously see that Liverpool has a few good players. That's how it is. But a very important message, maybe - we are not a selling club.

"We believe in working together, we believe in development together. We believe in using the basis. We want to work together, we want to make the next step together and for this we need to stay together. That's how it is."
