Viktor Gyokeres' preferred move has emerged in a new report after the Sporting CP star 'went on strike' to force a transfer.

Gyokeres has been the subject of intense transfer speculation amid interest from a slew of Premier League teams, including Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.

It comes after the 27-year-old scored an impressive 54 goals in 52 matches last season, having scored 43 goals under Ruben Amorim in his first campaign in Portugal following his switch from Coventry City.

He continues to dominate the transfer rumour mill, with his future taking a shock twist after a stunning report claimed he 'went on strike' to force a move away this summer.

Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas released an explosive statement as he touched on the saga, accusing Gyokeres of 'blackmail'.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are thought to be monitoring his situation ahead of making an official offer.

The Gunners are on the hunt for a new No.9, the Blues want to strengthen ahead of playing in the Champions League and Amorim is hoping to reunite with him at Old Trafford.

But, according to Portuguese outlet A Bola, Gyokeres' preferred destination is Arsenal.

A Bola claims negotiations between Arsenal and the player's camp 'have already advanced but without any white smoke'.

That's despite their reported pursuit of RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko, who is thought to be on Mikel Arteta's radar.

It remains to be seen how much Sporting CP will want for the Swedish forward, but Varandas won't be sanctioning his sale for anything less than €60 million (£51 million).

The latest report on Gyokeres' future will come as a huge blow to Man United and Amorim, who is hoping to work with him again following their spell together at Sporting CP.

Man United have already lost out on the signing of Liam Delap, who opted to join Chelsea.

Amorim's side are also believed to be keeping tabs on Napoli's Victor Osimhen, who spent last season on loan at Galatasaray, and Crystal Palace's Jean-Philippe Mateta.
