Former Premier League player Gylfi Sigurdsson is closing in on a transfer to a new club after not playing for over two years.
Sigurdsson hasn't played football since the 2020/21 season when he was at Everton.
He left the Goodison Park outfit in June 2022 following the expiration of his contract.

The 33-year-old has struggled to find a new team ever since, with Major League Soccer side DC United thought to be interested in signing him.
But after more than two years away from the sport, he appears to be on the verge of landing a club.
According to widespread reports, Sigurdsson is on the verge of joining Danish outfit Lyngby Boldklub, who are 'optimistic' of securing his services.

Lyngby compete in the Superliga, which is the highest-level of Danish football. They are currently seventh in the league, having recorded seven points from five matches.
The club already boast three Icelandic players in the shape Kolbeinn Finnsson, Saevar Atli Magnusson and Andri Gudjohnsen
Lyngby's manager Freyr Alexandersson is also Icelandic and coached Sigurdsson during his spell as the national team's assistant boss.

"There is always hope. We are in good dialogue with Gylfi, so right now I'm optimistic that it can happen. But right now there is nothing in place," he said.
"So, we just have to give him a few weeks so he can work on those things in relation to his body. So, let's look at it within two/three weeks."
As a free agent, Lyngby can sign him at any time and won't need to rush bringing him in ahead of the transfer window slamming shut on September 1.
Sigurdsson has plied his trade in the UK since 2012 when he joined Swansea City on an initial loan deal.

He went onto sign for Tottenham before returning to Swansea, with Everton being his last club.
