The Incredible Moment Marlon Torres Gives Yellow Card To Opposition Player

A Colombian footballer booked an opposition player after the referee dropped his yellow card on the floor.

Last night, in America de Cali's 2-1 win over Alianza Petrolera, defender Marlon Torres decided he was bored of being a player and fancied trying his hand at being a referee for a brief moment.

Larry Angulo bagged the winner in the 97th minute and there was a VAR check, which prompted protests from Alianza, who had just conceded right at the death.

The referee went to show a yellow to the player but as he brandished the card, it fell to the turf.

That's when Torres came in. He picked up the card and took it upon himself to caution the opponent before handing the card back to the referee.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, with the clip collecting millions of views.

Another bizarre yellow card was shown in South America last month when Internacional midfielder Mauricio was booked for doing kick-ups in the game.

Internacional beat Athletico PR 2-1 in the Brazilian Serie A, with Edenilson scoring a double.

But the yellow card picked up by 20-year-old Mauricio arguably overshadowed the win.

With no pressure on him, the youngster picked up the ball down the left flank and started doing kick-ups.

The referee didn't like the showboating one bit and when the ball went out of play, he showed a yellow card to Mauricio - much to his confusion.
