Romelu Lukaku Played A Key Role In Kai Havertz's Transfer To Chelsea, Their Fans Are Loving It

Romelu Lukaku Played A Key Role In Kai Havertz's Transfer To Chelsea, Their Fans Are Loving It

Chelsea's record signing made advances on Champions League match winner back in August 2020.

Romelu Lukaku has admitted he told new teammate Kai Havertz to join Chelsea, following a Europa League tie between Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen in August 2020.

The news of the player’s influence on the young German playmaker - who took the Belgian striker’s advice, entering himself in club folk law by scoring the winner in the 2021 Champions League final - has been met with delight.

Lukaku told Chelsea TV: ““I spoke to Kai Havertz when we played in the Europa League together, and I told him to go to Chelsea.”

Blues fan’s, who are already encouraged by images showing that 28-year-old Lukaku looks in prime shape ahead of his anticipated Premier League comeback at Arsenal on Sunday are rejoicing at the developments of ‘Agent Rom’.

They will be hoping to see a prolific link-up between the pair, sparked by the conversation during the Europa League Quarter Final in August 2020 in which both players scored for their previous club's, come to life at Stamford Bridge.

The mutual respect between both players during that meet was shown by Lukaku, sharing pictures of the pair embracing from the Quarter Final tie on Instagram with the message 'You are a star in the making' directed at Havertz.

Chelsea got their Premier League campaign off to a flying start with a 3-0 home victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday with goals from Marco Alonso, Christian Pulisic and Trevor Chalobah.

Kai Havertz came on as a late substitute and was amongst a long list of talented players who didn't make Thomas Tuchel's starting team. Lukaku, still in quarantine after his £97.5m move from Italian champions Inter Milan, played no part. He did receive a standing ovation despite not being in the stadium on Saturday.
