Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the progress of teenage goalkeeper Carl Rushworth, and are preparing a £4 million bid for the player.

The 18-year-old, who is contracted to Premier League outfit Brighton & Hove Albion, currently plays his football in the seventh division of English football with Isthmian Premier Division side Worthing FC

And it is believed that the La Liga giants have sent scouts to watch the goalkeeper in action at Woodside Road, according to The Mirror.

It is believed that Barca are ready to splash £4 million on Rushworth, who joined Brighton from non-league side Halifax Town in January last year.

The keeper was called up to England's under 19's squad for their European qualifiers against Macedonia, Luxembourg and Bosnia in November last year, and is quickly becoming one of the most talked about talents in the country.

Barcelona have been known to splash the cash on young English talent.

Last year, Louis Barry was described as "one of the best young players in English football" when the Catalan giants decided to sign him from West Brom.

He became the first ever English player to join the academy from which the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta graduated.

But he recently left the Nou Camp for Premier League side Aston Villa in a reported £3 million deal.

Thoughts on the deal for Rushworth?
