Andres Guardado Will Try And Get 'The Impossible Photo' With Lionel Messi Today

"I have around 20 photos with Lionel Messi and in none of them I have the ball..."

Back in July last year, the son of Real Betis winger Andrés Guardado captured the hearts of millions after a clip of him meeting his idol, Lionel Messi, was viewed 1.4 million times.

It was the mother, Sandra, who originally posted the clip of son, Máximo, to her Instagram page, where it gained nearly 15,000 likes and 50,000 views in 15 hours, before going viral on Twitter.

Following a second half 5-0 thumping from Barcelona, the Real Betis midfielder is seen carrying his son along the dressing room corridor of the Benito Villamarín stadium, to meet the Argentinian legend.

Messi appeared to be more than happy to pose for the snap, as Máximo grinned throughout as he was passed into the arms of the Barcelona frontman, greeting him with a playful high-five.

Betis played out a goalless first half in Seville before Barcelona turned it on after halftime, a goal from Rakitić and a brace from Messi and Suárez settled the affair.

Versatile midfielder Guardado has had stints at Deportivo La Coruna, Valencia and PSV before settling at Real Betis.

The winger once famously said the following about Lionel Messi:

"Messi is a benchmark in world football, for me he is the best in history and it will be a pride to tell my grandchildren that I lived in the time of Leo Messi:

"One of the best things football has given me, how could it be that I have 20 photos with Messi and I do not have the ball in any of them."

Guardado is Mexico's second most capped player in history, with 152, and featured heavily for El Tri at the 2018 World Cup, starting every game.

And today he will try and get the impossible photo against Lionel Messi as Real Betis host Barcelona at the Benito Villamarin Stadium.

Can he do it?

We certainly hope so, just so he can show his son that anything is possible.
