Fans have come up with a new theory after Pep Guardiola said Man United are in the title race

Fans have come up with a new theory after Pep Guardiola declared Manchester United in the Premier League title race.

The race to become the champions of England is hotting up as Arsenal continue their brilliant start to stretch their lead at the top to eight points.

Manchester City, the reigning champions have had their struggles recently, they were disappointing during their 1-1 draw against Everton.

Closely following City are Newcastle and United, who are both only one point behind Guardiola’s men.

Whether he is feeling the pressure or not, recent quotes from Guardiola have led to United fans coming up with the theory that Guardiola is trying to influence his rivals' team performances with his words.

The City boss said: “The advantage of Arsenal and Manchester United right now is nobody has to win the Premier League for 20 points ahead in November like Man City has to – and this is sometimes a big problem.”

Some United fans claimed that Guardiola is starting to feel the pressure.

Whilst some fans feel Guardiola is trying to get into the heads of his rivals.

Someone wrote: “I can see what he's doing. We ain't falling for your tricks no more pep.”

Another United fan added: “Pep finally rates us but just remembered that baldy plays a lot of mind games, he thinks we can’t see him…”

However, United boss Erik ten Hag has refused to include his side in the title race. He said: “That is a big step, no, we have to go from game to game and get the progress.

“The belief is growing. That is a good signal, and it is good to have that feeling.”

City will be looking to cut Arsenal’s lead at the top of the table to just five points when they take on Chelsea on Thursday night.
