Zlatan Ibrahimovic's doctor has an interesting explanation as to why the Swede left Manchester United so abruptly.

News broke on Thursday saying Ibrahimovic had played his last game for Manchester United, and that he was heading to Los Angeles to play for LA Galaxy.

He announced his arrival at Galaxy with a full-page advert in the L.A Times, before he was officially announced through a brilliant video on LA Galaxy's social media channels:

After his brilliant first season at United, where he scored 28 goals in all competitions, the 36-year old struggled to get going this term after his devastating ACL injury suffered against Anderlecht.

Still, how quickly has move to LA Galaxy came about was a tad surprising. However, according to Freddie Fu, his doctor, Zlatan's decision was made as soon as the club were knocked out of the Champions League by Sevilla.

"His idea was to see if we can go back and win more titles, especially the Champions League," he said, as quoted by the South China Morning Post.

After United lost to Sevilla, I think his decision, in my opinion, was that maybe that was it.

"United won't be able to catch up with Manchester City in the Premier League either. Maybe they can win the FA Cup which is good but not as good as the Champions League.

"He did everything else pretty much, won every major thing. Unfortunately they lost to Sevilla. I think he would have stayed longer, but he didn't tell me that."

Ibra's next career venture sees him pen a two-year contract with Galaxy, further raising the profile of the MLS.

Per reports from Spanish outlet Marca, the well-travelled superstar has gone from from earning โ‚ฌ21.8 million a year at United to 'just' โ‚ฌ1.2 million a year at Galaxy - the 95 per cent decrease coming because of strict MLS restrictions.
