We usually see sports stars as almost superhuman, it's easy to be in awe of what they do and not imagine them like the everyday man with everyday problems. That's obviously not the case but it's easy to forget. Chelsea forward Willian has given us a stark reminder.
Willian has been back in South America for Brazil's two World Cup qualifiers this week. The Chelsea forward played around an hour of both of Brazil's games as they beat Ecuador away and Colombia 2-1 in a tough home game. Before returning to London he visited his mum and revealed to the world she's suffering from cancer and has been for two and a half years.
In the message, posted in English by @CarefreeYouth, is very touching and talks about how the player would love to be by her side every day but obviously can't. It must not be easy for the 28 year old who must have had to cope with this for all but six months of his time at Stamford Bridge, nearly 6000 miles away from his mum:

We wish Willian's mum, and the player, all the best!
