Why Riyad Mahrez Was At The Emirates For Arsenal Vs. Chelsea

Arsenal Twitter went into meltdown after some fans spotted Riyad Mahrez leaving the Emirates on Wednesday night. But why was he in North London?

Well, it appears Sky Sport's Rob Dorsett has got the reason behind his sighting.

With the January transfer window only a few days away from being slammed shut, clubs across the country are facing a frantic spell to secure signings before next weeks deadline.

Arsenal have already been very busy in the market. Mainly the swap deal with Manchester United which saw Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan trade places.

As well as the arrival of the Armenian maestro, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who remains subject to intense transfer speculation.

And another name who continues to dominate the rumour mills is Leicester's Mahrez who was spotted leaving the Emirates, last night.

But according to Dorsett, Mahrez is still good pals with former Foxes teammate N'Golo Kante, with the pair meeting up after the League Cup semi-final second leg.

It got Arsenal and Chelsea fans talking, though, that's for sure.
