How would you react if you met Lionel Messi for the first time?

Well, that was Yerry Mina's reaction.

Just days after securing the services of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool for £142 million, Barcelona snapped up their second signing of the January window. The club drafted in Mina from Palmeiras for £10 million.

And the Colombian defender met his new teammates on Friday as they were taking part in a training session.

As the players and staff went back into the dressing room, Mina was introduced to the likes of Ernesto Valverde, Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele. Not to mention Messi.

And Mina couldn't believe his eyes. Messi greeted Mina with a hearty handshake before he gave the Argentine a warm hug.

He even got 'goosebumps' when Messi approached him, while hailing the little maestro as the 'best in the world'.

"For me, he [Messi] is the best in the world. The first impression I got of him was one of humility. I got goosebumps when Messi approached me with Suarez in the dressing room," Mina said via FourFourTwo.

After meeting his teammates, Mina was then introduced to the Camp Nou faithfuls and he marked the occasion with a classy gesture.

He took off his shoes and socks ahead of stepping foot on the pitch.

Explaining why: "There is a saying in my country that says, 'Touch the land you want to conquer with the sole of your feet.' And here I want to make history with everyone. I always do it and I hope to succeed.

"I have come to work. To contribute to the team and learn from my team-mates. This is a great club and since arriving you can feel the atmosphere here.

Mina also reveals how he didn't hesitate to seal the switch, even though first-team opportunities may dry up ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

"I was given the opportunity to come now and I did not think twice. I'm going to work to bring something to the best players in the world.

"I'm calm. I came to work, to contribute, to be with the best. With the work that we will all do, I will fight to be at the World Cup.

"I have to go step by step. I have to do things well and fit well in the group," he added.
