2017 has already been a turbulent month for transfers, but this recent rumour involving Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli is by far the most obscene.
The Express have reported that Pep Guardiola is ready to make a world record bid for the England international. That's right - Manchester City are apparently prepared to bypass the 89 million paid by Manchester United for Paul Pogba.
Alli, who's just been named the Premier League Player of the Month for January, has already been linked with a sensational move to Real Madrid, but this is quite hard to absorb.

He may have scored six goals in the month of January but is he really worth more than 89 million?
According to the Express, Manchester City have agreed to sanction a deal for Alli, but they will face certain competition from other clubs.
Dele Alli has already been pictured with Mauricio Pochettino's arm around him once this season but Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to that it'll happen again soon as they try to stop Real Madrid making a move for the midfielder.
Barcelona have also been linked with a move for Alli but Spurs are determined to keep hold of their best players as they strive to make themselves a permanent member of the big four and battle for titles.

But surely Tottenham will be coy about selling the talented 20-year-old.
How much is Alli worth?
