Bernardo Silva Admits He Is Flattered By Prem Duo's Interest

Could the Portuguese play maker be on his way to England, this Summer?

Bernardo Silva has unsurprisingly set tongues wagging on this side of the channel after his performances in this season's Champions League against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.

And it may not be long until the Portuguese playmaker makes the switch from Ligue Un to the Premier League.

Manchester United and Chelsea have both been heavily linked with the former Benfica midfielder over the past few months and now Silva has admitted he is flattered by the pair's interest in him.

Speaking to The Times, the 22-year-old said, "Yes I heard the reports.

"I have no idea if it's true or not. Of course it's nice to be associated with that kind of club but I haven't thought a lot about it.

One day I would like to play in England or Spain, in one of the best leagues in the world, but for now I'm very happy here."

It has previously been rumoured that Portuguese super agent Jorge Mendes, who lists United manager Jose Mourinho as one of his clients, has brokered a deal which would allow the Red Devils to sign Silva for £70m if they so wished.

This deal has never been confirmed by either Monaco or United, but, given Silva's immense talents and Monaco being in a secure financial state with no need to sell, it's not out of the realms of possibility that any team wanting to secure Silva's signature would have to part with that sort of money.

Silva was once again on fine form at the Stade Louis II stadium tonight as Leonardo Jardim's men overturned a 5-3 first leg away defeat to Manchester City with a 3-1 home victory to send Pep Guardiola's men crashing out of the Champions League round of 16.

Could we soon be seeing Silva tormenting English teams on a more regular basis?
