Barcelona may be in possession of one of the most envy worthy conveyor belts of homegrown talent in world football, but the Spanish champions do also scour the globe in order to discover the next big thing and they may just have found him, in Brazil.

It is believed that the Catalan club have begun negotiations with Flamengo for prodigious 16-year-old attacker Vinicus Junior.

Goal has revealed that the company who deal with the Brazilian teenager's image rights have travelled to Spain with Vinicus' father in order to open talks with Barcelona officials over a transfer.

Vinicus was recently voted Player of The Tournament during Brazil's successful South American Under-17 Football Championship and has, unsurprisingly, already begun to draw comparisons with current Barca star, Neymar.

Vinicus has hit a mightily impressive 19 goals in 22 appearances for Brazil's U17's and also scored six goals in six games for the country's U15 team, too.

Naturally with a youngster of such quality, Barcelona aren't the only team interested, hence the La Liga champion's urgent desire to seal a deal so quickly.

It is believed Barca's El Clasico rivals Real Madrid have also been monitoring Vinicus' situation and are weighing up a move for him, too.

However, Real will have to move quickly if they want to beat Barca to the signing of the Flamengo starlet, with a deal potentially imminent.
