The League With The Most Goals At The World Cup

Following a fortnight of wonderful World Cup action, a fine chap on Reddit has collected data on how many goals leagues and clubs across the world have provided in the tournament. And there's not much in it at the top.

Going off players' clubs before the World Cup got underway, La Liga leads the way as far as goals scored. Players in the Spanish top flight have netted 31 going into the knockout stages - with it coming as no surprise that the majority have come from those plying their trade with Barcelona and Real Madrid, who have nine apiece.

The Premier League are just one goal behind La Liga, with 30. Spurs are the second best-represented club in the World Cup in terms of goals, with their players mustering eight collectively thus far. Manchester United have notched six, the majority coming from Romelu Lukaku.

Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea players have all contributed with three, while Arsenal, Everton, Southampton, Watford, West Ham United, Stoke City and last season's bottom club, West Bromwich Albion, all have one to their name.

The Bundesliga is in third place with 10 goals but incredibly, no goals have come from any Bayern Munich players yet. Stars Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski both drew blanks and were knocked out at the group stage.

James Rodriguez, registered two assists in a 3-0 win over Poland but the Bavarians will be banking on the 2014 World Cup Golden Boot winner getting on the scoresheet this time around too - if he's fit for the knockouts that is.

The top tier of host nation Russia have contributed to eight, as have Ligue One - four coming from champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Serie A has seven to its name, while the Championship and Saudi Professional League are level on three.

At the bottom of the pile, the Chinese Super League, Brasileirão, Eredivisie, Superleague Greece, Liga MX, Superliga Argentina and most importantly, the Guatemalan Liga Nacional, have all had just one goal in the showpiece.

As we progress into the last 16, England captain Harry Kane leads the Golden Boot after notching five in two games, while Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku are joint second on four.
