Carlos Vela marked the first ever Los Angeles derby by scoring a gorgeous goal.

The Mexican, who has signed on as Los Angeles FC's designated players for the first season in the MLS, struck five minutes in against LA Galaxy.

After a couple possession changes, the former Arsenal striker received the ball on the right, shifted it onto his trusty left peg and curled one in to the top corner.

The goalkeeper should probably have done better with his position but take nothing away from the superb strike from Vela.

The perfect type of goal in the newly-developed rivalry in the City of Flowers and Sunshine and one that underlines just why Los Angeles made him their marquee signing.

Vela then netted his second in the 26th minute, this time keeping his cool and supplying a lovely finish with his supposedly weaker right foot.

He's far too good for the MLS but Bob Bradley and LA FC won't be bothered one bit!
