Damn.

Alan Shearer once said that he had no regrets about turning down the chance to join Manchester United in the 90's. The former Newcastle striker was offered the chance to move on two occasions, but Alan said no twice.

In 1992, he opted to leave Southampton for Blackburn and in 1996, Newcastle secured his signature in a world record £15 million deal. To this day, Sir Alex reveals his regret about not being able to sign the Premier League's top scorer.

He told Sky Sports back in March: "Alan Shearer is one I wish I'd signed, but for me the most disappointing of all was Paul Gascoigne."

Of course, Shearer has never been one to shy away from the question about United and has joked about the situation in years gone by, including this belter from April 2016.

The former Newcastle and Blackburn striker has now taken another little dig at Manchester United in his latest Twitter post.

Shortly after Romelu Lukaku appeared in his first exclusive interview as a United player, Shearer couldn't help but claw out one of his quotes.

Lukaku said during his interview: "Who would say no to the biggest club in the world?"

Shearer replied:

In his first interview as a Manchester United player, Romelu Lukaku stated that he is joining 'the world's biggest club' and has revealed his delight as he hopes to create history at Old Trafford.

On Friday morning, Manchester United announced that a fee has been agreed with Everton for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, subject to a medical and personal terms.

And it now looks like a deal is all but complete after the Belgian spoke about his new club to the press:

In an world exclusive with ESPN, Lukaku spoke about how Manchester United have 'the best stadium in England' and 'the best fans' in the world, going on to state that he will now 'work harder than every before.'

Sorry to burst your bubble Romelu but apparently Barcelona are the biggest team in the world, according to Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer.

Thoughts?
