It should come as no surprise that Portugal were frustrated after their 1-1 draw with Iceland, last night but the comments of captain Cristiano Ronaldo, during a post-match interview, have caused outrage among football fans and pundits, alike.
Ronaldo was a picture of frustration and desperation, all night as the Portuguese toiled to break down a firm Icelandic resolve. Nani gave Fernando Santos' men the lead in the first half and it seemed as if the floodgates would open thereafter. However, a lapse in defensive concentration in the second half allowed Birkir Bjarnason to volley home and hand the smallest country at Euro 2016 their first ever point in the competition.

At the final whistle, the Portugal captain left the pitch without shaking the hands of any of his opponents and then delivered a very bitter, petulant post-match interview which has received widespread criticism.
"I thought they'd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end.

"It was unbelievable. We tried hard to win the game and Iceland didn't try anything. This, in my opinion, shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition."
And finally, just for a bit of context to the enormity of Iceland's achievement, last night:
