Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman was involved in a very awkward moment with Oscar Mingueza when he blanked the young Blaugrana defender after substituting him.

The Catalan side beat Getafe 5-2 at the Nou Camp but Koeman was fuming with Mingueza and substituted him with 15 minutes to go.

With the scoreline at 3-2, the 21-year-old got a little too excited and joined the Barca attack. However, because he left his position in the back three, Koeman was not happy one bit.

"We're playing with three!" the Dutchman shouted, clearly aiming his outburst at Mingueza.

It wasn't too long before Mingueza, who has broken through into the first-team this term, was replaced by Samuel Umtiti and consoled by teammate Riqui Puig.

But when he approached the dug-out and tried to shake Koeman's handshake, his manager was having none of it and still looked incensed with the defender. It was all very awkward.

Mingueza, having been completely pied off by Koeman, then took his place in the stands for the remainder of the game.

Speaking post-match, Koeman admitted his reaction was a "bit exaggerated" and claimed the sub was not because of Mingueza playing too far up the pitch.

"Maybe I was a bit exaggerated, because he's having a great season," Koeman said, as per Goal.

"The youngsters have to learn that with Barcelona you have to always be 100 per cent focused in every game. His substitution had no relation with my anger.

"It's complicated. Pedri wasn't there either. His level. Neither was Araujo. The change was not out of anger, but to put Frenkie on the right and give Umtiti minutes, which he deserves.

"I have spoken to Mingueza after the game and there is no problem. If there's one player who's having a great season, it's him."
