Roman Neustädter arrived at the Ataturk airport in Istanbul to complete his move from Schalke to Fenerbahce, yesterday but little did he know what was going to unfold in the historic Turkish city, as suicide bombers killed 41 people in a horrifying attack.

The Russian international, who has also represented Germany twice at international level, flew into Istanbul to conclude the deal with Fener officials, not long before the tragedy at Ataturk airport occurred.

Neustädter had posted a farewell message to Schalke fans on his Twitter and Instagram accounts three days ago, confirming that he was leaving the Bundesliga giants, after four years with the club.

Not long after the attacks took place, the 28-year-old expressed his condolences for those who had tragically lost their lives
