Arsenal striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has unsurprisingly clocked the fastest sprint speed at Arsenal Football Club, but you might be surprised to see a couple of aging defenders among the quickest.

The Gabon international has posted the leaderboard, which is based on max speed and its percentage, while taking the piss out of teammate Mattéo Guendouzi's 93% max speed.

It basically outlines the fastest and slowest players at the club, as the likes of new singing Lucas Torreira and Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny lagging towards the bottom of the list.

The above results may be predictable but defenders Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi have recorded surprisingly quick times.

Who would have guessed the German defender is faster than Danny Welbeck, Alex Lacazette and Alex Iwobi. Crazy.

Hectpr Bellerin unsurprisingly finishes in second place with 9.63, while Alex Iwobi and Rob Holding also finish in the upper bracket.

Back in April, statistics gurus Opta recorded the fastest speed of players in the Premier League last season and though a fair of household names are in the mix, the top 20 does throw up some surprises.

PFA Young Player of the Year nominee Leroy Sane has destroyed defenders with his pace and trickery all season and it comes as no surprise that he is the league's speed king.

In fact, with his top speed of 35.48km/h (22.05 mph) - recorded in the 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge back in September, the German is actually the fastest player in the Premier League since the collection of such data began in 2013/14.

Crystal Palace left-back Patrick van Aanholt is second, having clocked 35.42km/h - while Moussa Sissoko is third with 35.33km/h.

Theo Walcott has been one of the fastest players in the league ever since he burst onto the scene but has had to settle for fourth place on 35.23km/h - not too far ahead of compatriot Kyle Walker (35.2km/h) in fifth.

Jamie Vardy, once the league's fastest player, is in 11th while Arsenal's pacey pair Hector Bellerin and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - the latter the fastest player on FIFA 18, are level in 13th place.

Interesting stats, for sure.
