"That has to be the least confidence-inspiring bit of footage I've ever seen of a captain."

On October 24, 2019, Harry Maguire was named Manchester United captain for the club's Europa League clash against Partizan Belgrade but things didn't exactly go to plan for the world's most expensive defender.

Ahead of kick-off at the Partizan Stadium, the England international was called by referee Xavier Fernandez to join him in a traditional coin toss as fellow captain Vladimir Stojković looked on with a grin on his face.

Fernandez, who was joined by fellow assistants Roberto Alonso and Inigo Prieto, shouted "Maguire...Harry!" before the centre-back awkwardly ran over to complete his duties. It was all a tad awkward.

Maguire eventually swapped crests with the Serbian goalkeeper on his first appearance in European competition, but it was a slightly embarrassing moment for the defender.

"That has to be the least confidence-inspiring bit of footage I've ever seen of a captain." said one Twitter user, while another said: "He doesn't even know how it works."

To his defence, Maguire kept a clean sheet against Savo Milosevic's side as United left Serbia with a 1-0 win.

Anthony Martial calmly converted from the penalty spot with 42 minutes on the clock after full-back Brandon Williams was fouled in the area.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, meanwhile, topped Group L that night with seven points from a possible nine.
