Mesut Ozil is set to be announced as a Fenerbahce player on Monday morning after the German midfielder travelled to Turkey to complete a medical earlier.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a switch for some time, with a number of clubs interested in his services.

But it looks like he will finally secure a move after saying goodbye to Arsenal team-mates and staff at the club's training ground on Sunday.

Just hours after Ozil left the London Colney training base, a couple of Arsenal players decided to express their interest in the soon-to-vacant number 10 shirt.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have been 'joking' about the jersey number on social media in recent hours.

"When you both want the number 10," wrote Lacazette on his official Instagram, before Aubameyang replied: "They said they put it away [crying face emoji x3] all yours my bro."

Ozil has since confirmed his upcoming move to Fenerbahce on Turkish television, but the official announcement is expected on Monday morning, according to
Fabrizio Romano.

"I am so happy. I'm a Fenerbahce fan. God wanted me to play football in Fenerbahce. I'm proud." he told NTV.

"I am coming tonight with my family to Istanbul, thank God who gave me the opportunity to represent this club. I will wear the shirt with pride."

He is also expected to wear the number 67 shirt because his hometown of Zonguldak in Turkey has a postal code of beginning with 67.

The German midfielder will take a big paycut in order to join the Turkish giants, with a £65,000 per-week, three-year contract being reported.
