Micah Richards Refused To Back Down When Roy Keane Challenged Him Over "Burst Onto Scene' Claim

Roy Keane has never backed down from an argument, but Micah Richards was ready to step up and pulled no punches towards him on Sky Sports.

Micah Richards shut down Roy Keane when the Manchester United legend questioned if he "burst onto the scene" during an amusing argument.

The former Manchester City defender, 33, appeared on Sky Sports and made an interesting comparison between the emergence of Chelsea's Billy Gilmour and himself.

During the analogy, Richards compared the Scottish midfielder with how he made an instant impact in his career.

The former Aston Villa right-back argued: "I burst onto the scene, didn't I? And I was going to be the next best thing.

"And yeah, I won a Premier League, which is the best thing you could ever do.

"I won the FA Cup and I got to play for a team that I loved, but I underachieved because sometimes, as a player, you can believe the hype.

"Yeah, injuries didn't help me, but he's just got to keep his feet on the ground.

"He's got a manager there who believes in his talent and a manager there who will keep his feet on the ground, and as long as he does that I think he's got a real player..."

Keane then interrupted Richards by asking him if he actually believed that he "burst onto the scene."

And Richards wasted no time in hitting back and responded: "Do you remember my header against Aston Villa? Do you not remember that, no?"

Keane doubled down on his comments by claiming that very few defenders will burst onto the scene.

However, Richards put his foot down and hit back: "Well, hold on! I played for England at 18, youngest-ever defender to play for England. I would say that's bursting onto the scene."

Soccer AM later tweeted out a clip during the commercial, with the studio panel bursting into laughter over the exchange.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville hilariously said that he "kept telling them to feed" Richards to intensify the argument.
