Neymar Reportedly Wasn't Really Injured For PSG's Game Against Angers

So why did the Brazilian not make the trip?

When Neymar didn't make the trip to Angers for Paris Saint-Germain's 5-0 Ligue Un victory at the weekend, it was reported that the world's most expensive player was injured. However, it now appears that this may not actually be the case.

Spanish newspaper Sport are reporting that the Brazilian has already become demotivated by the lack of quality opposition in the French top flight and decided that, rather than make the trip to Angers for an easy three points, he'd just stay at home instead and save himself for Brazil's upcoming international friendlies, one of which is against England.

Ahead of the match, PSG boss Unai Emery said, "Neymar had a small blow to his muscle and didn't feel well this morning. I spoke with the doctors and with him and we decided it's best if he stays in Paris."

However, yesterday, Neymar joined up with the Brazil squad, which seems to contradict Emery's words about the former Barcelona forward having a small blow to his muscle and also feeling unwell.

Neymar not only joined up with the national team, but also looked in top form during the first session, rather than someone who'd just been diagnosed with a muscle injury.

Now, Sport are reporting that Neymar was simply looking for an excuse not to play against Angers.

The Spanish daily say in their report, "The Brazilian's been surprised by the low quality of the rivals and the low attendances in the stadiums. For that reason, he decided to rest before the Seleçao's games and to not travel to the Stade Raymond Kopa (Angers) where PSG played in front of 12,381 fans. A number which has nothing to do with what he was, exceptions aside, used to in Spain."

So, that's what almost 200 million quid gets you nowadays. A player who, after two months, decides he can't be arsed playing every week. Fair play, actually. Pulling sickies for a weekend shift is an admirable effort.

The world's most expensive player has courted a lot of controversy since swapping Catalonia for the French capital in the summer, most noticeably through his on-field feud with Edinson Cavani which escalated over the Uruguayan's refusal to give up penalty taking duties to the Brazilian forward.

If this latest story proves to be true and Neymar is already tired of France, how much longer will he want to remain in Ligue Un?
