It's what we're all thinking...

Mohamed Salah's sensational 43-goal season has seen him draw parallels with five-time Ballon d'Or winners Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi but 'The Egyptian King' is not a fan of the comparisons.

PFA Player of the Year and Football Writers' Football of the Year Salah has netted a superb tally of 31 goals in 35 Premier League games in his second crack at English football.

On top of that, he's been instrumental in Liverpool's run to the Champions League final, their first in 11 years, having scored 11 and assisted four.

Should Liverpool win a sixth European Cup, Salah will undoubtedly be a leading contender for the Ballon d'Or award.

But the 25-year old shares the common view that it's too early to start throwing him in the mix with world football's two elite players.

"I don't want to say I am happy with these kind of comparisons," Salah said in an interview with Egyptian TV channel ONE, as per the Liverpool Echo.

"Each of them has been at the top level for 10 or 11 years. Their performance level is stable.

"I need to maintain my performance levels high for many seasons. I hope I can do that. They are great players and hopefully I become happy with these comparisons."

Modest as ever from Salah, the absolute top bloke.

Salah scooped two more individual awards at Liverpool's end-of-season ceremony in the week and delighted Reds' fans by reiterating his desire to stay put at Anfield.

"I'm very happy here, everything is fine," he said.

"Of course I have got ambitions for the future with Liverpool. As you can see we had a great season, now we are in the Champions League final and everyone is excited.

"It is just the start. This is my first year here and it is the same for some other players. It is just the beginning."
