Dwight Yorke has claimed that Mason Greenwood is better than Marcus Rashford as he branded the Manchester United starlet a "defender's nightmare."

Greenwood, 18, made his first senior appearance for the Red Devils last season before becoming a regular under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the current campaign.

And the England U21 international has dazzled with his performances on the pitch this season as he's made 47 appearances across all competitions and scored 18 times.

Yorke has now praised Greenwood as a "fantastic talent" and believes he is better than United star Rashford based on his "record now."

The 48-year-old United hero told Apollo Tyres: "He is getting all the praise right now because he is certainly hot at the moment with what he is doing. The trend at United is that the young players have always been getting chances.

"Under LVG [Louis van Gaal] and [Jose] Mourinho, they have not got their chances. Ole has come in and recognised that part of Man Utd. Mason, under Jose, probably would not have got a game.

"Mason is a defender's nightmare. If you look at us in the last 2-3 years, we have been passing sideways, now these guys are driving teams back into their own area. He is a fantastic talent.

"He is better than Rashford, looking at his record now. You got to understand though he is still 18, at a development stage. Having Ole there, he would guide him along the way."

Rashford, 22, has also been in scintillating form this season and scored 22 times and registered 11 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

United's hopes of capturing silverware were dealt a major blow on Sunday when Chelsea dumped them out of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils, who are still in the Europa League, were handed a boost for their Champions League qualification hopes with Spurs' 3-0 win over Leicester City.

United will host West Ham at Old Trafford on Wednesday before travelling to Leicester for their final Premier League match of the season.
