Lionel Messi takes great pride in destroying his opponents and unfortunately Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi became one of his victims last night.

The Brazilian recklessly dived in an attempt to tackle Messi on the right flank in the first half but the Barcelona talisman saw the challenge from a mile off.

He cleverly dinked the ball past the onrushing Lodi, who ended up going on an adventure off the pitch. Some say the 22-year-old is still sliding right now.

In slow motion, the absolute ruining from Messi looks even more brutal. And it's worth remembering that Lodi is actually a pretty good defender.

Lodi wasn't the only Atleti player to get completely mugged off by the six-time Ballon d'Or in the 2-2 draw. Jan Oblak is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world at the moment and he was made to look like a fool when Messi produced a cute Panenka penalty right down the middle.

Having gone three games without a goal, it was the most nonchalant wayto reach 700 career goals for the Argentine ace, with Oblak sprawling to his left as Messi deftly dinked the ball from 12 yards.

The fact that he achieved another historic milestone so effortlessly in a big game at the top of the table just speaks volumes of Messi's ability.

The 33-year old now boasts an outrageous tally of 700 official goals in 862 matches for club and country - with 630 in 723 for Barcelona and 70 in 138 for the Argentina national team.
