As if Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez tearing it up for Barcelona's first-team wasn't enough, the pair's sons are vying to follow in their famous fathers' footsteps.

Thiago Messi and Benjamin Suarez both play for the Blaugrana's Under 8 side along with Gerard Pique's son Milan and recently ran riot in a 9-2 thrashing.

Seven-year old Thiago struck twice with two right-footed finishes, while Benjamin found the net with his left-foot and followed it up with a dive celebration that his old man would have been proud of.

Suarez and Messi linking up for Barcelona really is just meant to be, isn't it? We look forward to seeing these two guiding Barca to Champions League glory 15 years from now.

Thiago, along with Messi's middle child Mateo, are taking an active interest in the game and regularly turn up to watch him training according to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner.

The Barcelona captain told Mundo Deportivo: "The two older ones are showing more dedication to the ball Thiago and Mateo are the ones that understand the most.

"They come to the pitch and training sessions and are usually close to me."

Last year, Messi revealed that his eldest child is actually his biggest critic and he regularly receives pointers on how to improve.

"It's always difficult to digest defeats and bad performances, but [my son] Thiago now forces me to comment on what happened and explain," Messi told SPORT.

"He follows everything, asks questions, and gives me notes when things are not going so well. Yes, yes, I already received a couple of criticisms!"
