Newcastle United legend Jonas Gutierrez yesterday won his disability discrimination case against the club for freezing him out of the first team following his cancer diagnosis and stopped him getting a new deal.
Gutierrez spent seven years at St James' Park and scored an emotional goal on the last day of last season that guaranteed their safety but he'd already failed to earn a new contract after not making enough appearances to trigger an automatic extension because he was wrongly left out of the team.

Gutierrez sued the club for £2 million compensation and won two of his four claims against the Magpies. The amount of his compensation is yet to be agreed.

The 32 year old played 78 of the 80 games he needed to earn an automatic extension on his contract but was told over the phone back in January 2015 by then manager John Carver that he wouldn't be having his deal renewed.
Despite the bad taste that the whole situation must have left the player he clearly stays passionate to the team and supporters and that's great to see!
