Josef Martinez's bizarre approach to taking penalties finally caught up with him last night when the Atlanta United striker missed from 12 yards against D.C United.
Martinez's unique style sees him perform "hop, skip and jump" towards the ball before he strikes the ball and it looks quite remarkable visually - with the Venezuelan almost looking he was floating in the air.
It looks a bit daft but it's brought him a lot of success at club and international level, forcing the 'keeper to make a move before he picks his spot.
Until now. 2018 MLS MVP and Golden Boot winner Martinez stuck to his guns when Atlanta were awarded a spot-kick but this time he ballooned the ball over the bar.
It was only Martinez' second penalty miss out of 15 he has taken in the MLS since 2017 and the third in his career on the whole so that gives you an indication of the success rate he has had - and would suggest he will not be changing his technique anytime soon.

Encouragingly, Martinez didn't let the penalty miss affect his performance as he scored for the fifth consecutive game in saucy fashion with a deft 92nd minute chip to seal a late 2-0 win.
He now has 16 MLS goals for the season as well as 75 in 85 games for Atlanta on the whole.
