Joe Gomez has shared some bad news with Liverpool fans about his comeback from a serious knee injury.
The Anfield defender hasn't kicked a ball since October last year after picking up an anterior cruciate ligament injury while on international duty with the England Under-21s.
At the time he was settling well into life at the club, playing regularly under Brendan Rodgers just months after being signed from Charlton. Fans would have been looking forward to seeing Gomez return to action for the start of this season.

But that looks to have been delayed, with the 19-year-old defender sharing an update on his Instagram about his recovery and how he was struggling with achilles tendinopathy:
Gomez will have a tough job on earning a spot in the Liverpool first team when he does return to fitness.
Jurgen Klopp has got the best out of Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho since arriving at Anfield last year and Nathaniel Clyne continued to perform well in his first season at the club.

The only position Klopp needs to strengthen in defence is left back, but Gomez is a right-footed defender who only appeared there for a short period during Rodgers' reign as manager. Still, Gomez is a young player and has plenty of time to stake his claim as a first team star for Liverpool.
