Is Chelsea Loan Star Tammy Abraham The Next Ian Wright?

Is Chelsea Loan Star Tammy Abraham The Next Ian Wright?

Some big praise indeed.

Bristol City's first team coach John Pemberton has likened Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham to Arsenal and Palace legend Ian Wright.

Pemberton enjoyed a spell with the legendary frontman while at Palace, and sees resemblance with the 18-year-old wonderkid. Speaking to BBC Points West:

"Tammy is very much like Ian Wright with regard to being in the right place at the right time. Ian Wright could create something out of nothing and Tammy is the same with regards to goalscoring"

Abraham bagged his 10th goal of the season over the weekend as they thrashed Fulham 4-0, beating the Londoners twice in the space of a few days in both the EFL cup and league, while becoming the Championship's top scorer.

Despite being one of 38 players out on loan from Chelsea, Abraham's exploits have seen him garner plenty of attention. And City's No.2 continues to shower him with praise. "He's frightening and he just has this knack of getting there when you think he can't do it, and that is something Wrighty had as well."

While adding that losing Frenchman Jonathan Kodjia to Championship rivals Aston Villa hasn't made as much of an impact. "Losing Kodjia has not hurt us as much as we thought it may do and at the moment we feel we might have the better deal."

You can say that again. That's the easiest £11 million Steve Lansdown has ever made. Abraham appears to have shaken off a dead leg as he looks to extend his red hot form when City entertain Leeds on Tuesday night.
