Iceland Captain Clears Up Conversation With Cristiano Ronaldo

Iceland Captain Clears Up Conversation With Cristiano Ronaldo

Lip reading isn't an exact science.

So it seems like we were all wrong and Cristiano Ronaldo isn't the worst person ever to walk the face of the Earth, sorry about that. It seems the Portuguese forward wasn't disrespecting the Iceland captain all along.

Last week Iceland held Portugal to a surprising 1-1 draw in their first ever match at the European Championships and Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo wasn't too complimentary about them moaning about a small country philosophy of just playing 11 men behind the ball, which was a little harsh especially considering their second half performance.

Afterwards images of Iceland captain Aron Gunnarsson talking to the Portuguese captain at full time emerged and it was suggested by Bild that a lip reader had deciphered the conversation with Gunnarsson asking for CR7's shirt and the Real player patronisingly asking "who are you?" before walking off.

However the Icelandic player has dismissed those claims instead confirming that the former Manchester United winger is actually a true gent and was more than happy swapping shirts with the other man with an armband on the pitch saying:

'It's true that I asked him for his shirt, but he didn't ask me who I was. He said there was no problem, but inside the dressing room. I'm already tired of this story, I want to concentrate on the next game, and I have nothing more to say on it.'

It's good to know that there's no beef between the two captains and we can all get back to wondering if Ronaldo can become the first man to score in four European Championships, after all he's failed with his first attempt and Zlatan Ibrahimovic has failed in both attempts.

Still though one thing is slightly confusing, why didn't Ronaldo want to swap shirts on the pitch, that's his best move!
