Eight Manchester United Players Get Upgrades On FIFA 18

The ratings are causing a big stir...

Rather perplexingly, eight Manchester United players were given upgrades as part of EA Sports' 'Ratings Refresh' on Friday night.

David De Gea, arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, was quite rightly given an increase of one to take him up to 91.

Jesse Lingard went up two points to break into the 80's after a spell where he turned into Lionel Messi for about games, while his attacking mates Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have seen improvements.

Ashley Young has been pretty solid for large parts this season and he's gone up to 77.

But then comes the controversy. Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba both started off the current campaign brilliantly, but have petered out in recent months and been very much below-par.

Yet the midfield pair have both been given upgraded by one mark each, with Matic now 84 and Pogba now 88.

That's not the most ridiculous upgrade, though. Somehow, Phil Jones is now an 81-rated defender, having previously been 79-rated.

When EA put out the above tweet detailing the main ratings upgrades, the main discussion point was Pogba and Morata both going up by one:
