Fans Who Predicted Bruno Fernandes Would Flop Now Look Very Silly A Year On

Bruno Fernandes has been a revelation ever since signing for Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes has been at Manchester United for a year and been incredible, proving some fans very, very wrong.

There's no doubt that Fernandes has changed things at Old Trafford, since arriving for an initial £47 million, with the Portuguese midfielder turning the side into title challengers this season.

Last year, when he joined at the end of the January transfer window, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side only had an outside chance of finishing in the top four last season, ending up finishing in third.

Since joining the team, the 26-year-old has scored 28 times in all competitions and laid on 17 assists for his teammates in just 52 games.

There's no doubt that it's been one of the most successful transfers in recent years, which is why it's so amusing to look back a year to check what Football Twitter was saying about the move!

One of the few criticisms of the former Sampdoria player since he moved to the Premier League has been his record against other 'big six' sides.

However last weekend he came off the bench in the FA Cup fourth round to score a brilliant free-kick against rivals Liverpool, to win the game.

It probably won't act as any sort of comfort to one Liverpool fan that he correctly predicted the Portuguese midfielder would work out at Old Trafford.

If any one feels too bad about their Bruno prediction they should know that even the experts get it wrong, although not quite as wrong.

On the signing, Gary Neville predicted the midfielder would do well at Old Trafford but not straight away. "I've not got huge expectations of Bruno Fernandes in terms of this next few months. I think it'll take him a little time in England to settle in. He'll need some time," the Sky Sports pundit said a year ago.

"...Ultimately we shouldn't be sat here thinking he's going to be amazing straight away. Obviously it's very difficult to hit the ground running in the January transfer window."
