Daniele De Rossi played in a plethora of derbies in the Italian capital for his beloved Roma, even captaining the Giallorossi on occasion.

But as a boyhood Romanistas it was always a dream of his to experience the thrilling fixture amongst the passionate ultras in the 'Curva Sud'.

However, given that he's an absolute legend in one side of the city, there was no way he could fulfil his dream without being mobbed.

Thus, he decided to sit in the makeup chair for hours and undergo a radical transformation that included glasses, long grey hair and rubber nose to name just a few key changes to his appearance.

His wife shared footage of the makeover the Italian legend had and it worked an absolute treat - as no-one around him in the Roma end had a clue that they were watching the 1-1 draw in the company of one of their greatest ever players.

His wife Sarah wrote on Instagram: "Here's what happens when your husband decides to infiltrate the south corner to fulfil his dream and see the derby!

"We lost an entire afternoon, hours of make-up, traumatised the children but he was happy as a child. (I love you)."

After coming through the youth system, De Rossi spent 18 seasons in the Roma first-team before departing the club at the end of the last campaign - a decision that angered the club's supporters.

He headed to Boca Juniors in Argentina before hanging up his boots at the start of 2020.
