Celtic Wonderkid Karamoko Dembele Gets Scotland Call Up

What a start to his career.

Karamoko Dembele is big news in the world of football right now and whilst Celtic must keep the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich away from the 13 year old his country are also battling to keep him Scottish.

Dembele hit the headlines last month when at just 13 he made his debut for the Celtic under 20s team. It kicked off loads of videos of him tearing teams of his age group apart and led to inevitable links to some of Europe's biggest clubs.

But internationally he was also being eyed up. The FA were looking at ways to steal the youngster off their Auld enemies whilst the Scottish FA were worried that the player would eventually choose to play for Ivory Coast.

According to The Daily Mail Dembele has been called up by Scotland to play in the Victory Shield matches against Northern Ireland and Wales later this month in Edinburgh.

The SFA are fast tracking the teenager, starting with a call up for the under 16s for the Victory Shield. Whilst England no longer send a team for the competition it still remains a prestigious competition for the age group.

Ivory Coast is the birthplace of Dembele's family and despite the young Hoops wonderkid being boring in Scotland they remain hopeful that he'll follow his family roots to play for them when he's older.

At this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Gordon Strachan is forced to pick him against England next month just so he can't play for another country!
