A day after seeing their side lose 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace, Manchester United fans heard about one of their top summer transfer targets drop an assisting masterclass.

Bruno Fernandes, who was heavily tipped to make the move to Old Trafford throughout the window, set up all three goals as Sporting CP won 3-1 away at Portimonense.

He capped off his hat-trick of his assists with a stunning cross for Raphina to seal the win and his display has annoyed United fans aplenty considering they look bereft of creativity at the moment.

Many were quick to point out the difference in productivity between Fernandes and Jesse Lingard, who is yet to register a goal or assist in 2019.

Despite his poor performances, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to criticise Lingard following United's loss to Palace.

"Jesse's not scored any goals in the last three games, no, but he's been a big part of our team and will continue being an important part," Solskjaer said, as per Goal.

"The energy he gives us is lively, but we felt Mason [Greenwood] had to come on and create something and we'll see more of Mason."
