Manchester United’s ‘Secretive’ Approach To Transfers Under Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United’s ‘Secretive’ Approach To Transfers Under Erik Ten Hag

Manchester United are yet to bring in any new players in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United have opted for a more ‘secretive’ approach to transfers under new boss Erik ten Hag

According to talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, the Old Trafford club new strategy could mean that the club are working on one or two deals with players that are not yet known to be United targets.

Crook also believes that United have learnt lessons from their past mistakes, with previous deals being leaked to the public, United officials are now working on deals away from the public eye.

So far in the current transfer window, United have let a number of high profile players leave the club, including Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata

Despite the high number of exits, no new players have been signed yet, with the team already back in pre season training, the club needs to pick up the pace to get players in.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia is poised to be Ten Hag’s first signing as United boss after a deal in the region of £14.6 million was agreed between the two clubs.

Barcelona’s Dutch midfielder Frenkie de Jong could also be a United player soon, this transfer saga has been ongoing for some time but it seems that an agreement is close, and De Jong is believed to be willing to move to Old Trafford. Ten Hag is also looking to raid his former side, with defender Lisandro Martinez and winger Antony high on the wish list.

United face stiff competition from Premier League rival Arsenal for the signature of Martinez, the Old Trafford club is preparing a £40 million bid.

It is believed that United officials travelled to Amsterdam last week to discuss a potential transfer for Brazilian winger Antony, but United are said to be put off by Ajax’s asking price.

The Red Devils have also offered free agent Christian Eriksen a deal, but the experienced Danish international is currently mulling over offers from United and Brentford, who he spent the second half of the 21/22 campaign with.

United are preparing to set off on their pre season tour of Thailand and Australia next week, with the hope that they will be joined on their voyage but some new faces.
