Man Utd star 'has told friends he wants to quit the club' this summer

Man Utd star 'has told friends he wants to quit the club' this summer

He's been linked with Newcastle and West Ham.

Several big names are expected to move on from Manchester United this summer and one player has already told his friends he is seeking to leave the club, a report has claimed.

United boss Erik ten Hag has already confirmed he plans to make changes to his squad in the upcoming transfer window as he looks to bring the Premier League title back to Old Trafford.

Speaking after United's 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday night, which secured the club Champions League football for next season, Ten Hag said: "We want to compete for the title but you have to be realistic and can first say when you have your squad in the end of the transfer window and the winter transfer window what you can do.

"The squad is there and you can make a statement about if it is realistic or not. Now we are far away, so we have a lot of work to do.

"We make progress in this team in this squad, but we need better players if we want to compete for the highest."

It is not yet clear how large a budget Ten Hag will have to spend this summer, with the uncertainty surrounding the ownership of the club complicating matters.

Some reports have suggested the Dutchman could have as little as £100m to spend, although this figure could be boosted by player sales.

The Manchester Evening News claim Ten Hag is ready to axe as many as 13 players to raise funds, with his sights set on signing a new striker this summer.

McTominay 'seeking Man Utd exit'

While some players will be desperate to remain at Old Trafford, others are seeking to leave.

Football Insider claim Scott McTominay has told friends he wants to move on this summer 'for the good of his career'.

The 26-year-old, who made his senior debut for United in 2017, has dropped down the pecking order under Ten Hag – starting just four Premier League matches since September.

McTominay is said to 'want regular playing time' while at the 'peak of his career', and he 'fears the club are planning to sign another central midfielder this summer'.

West Ham and Newcastle are both interested in the United academy graduate, who has scored 19 goals in 207 games for the club.

It is claimed United will seek £25m for the midfielder, who is currently under contract until the summer of 2025 - with the option of a further 12 months.
