La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona both interested in Liverpool player, Klopp can't afford to lose him

La Liga rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona both interested in Liverpool player, Klopp can't afford to lose him

Real Madrid and Barcelona are reportedly both interested in a Liverpool starlet.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both interested in signing Liverpool wonderkid Stefan Bajcetic, according to new reports.

The 18-year-old has become a key member of Jurgen Klopp's side in recent weeks, starting each of Liverpool's last seven games in all competitions.

He was awarded player of the match for his display in the 2-0 win over Everton last week, and earned his first Champions League start in the 5-2 defeat to Real - becoming the youngest player in history to achieve such a feat for the Reds.

Bajcetic joined the club from Celta Vigo in January 2021 - although he officially signed a deal in the previous month - and initially started out in the youth teams.

It was this season that he earned a promotion to the first team, and had to bide his time to have a regular run in the team.

Now he has gained some consistency of selection in the starting XI, Bajcetic does not look like losing his place anytime soon.

Klopp, therefore, will be desperate to keep hold of him - but there is believed to be serious interest in the young Spaniard from two footballing giants.

Barcelona, Real 'want Liverpool starlet Bajcetic'

According to Fichajes, Bajcetic's impressive displays for Liverpool has led to strong interest from both Barcelona and Real Madrid.

It is claimed that both sides see the 18-year-old as a squad option, with Barca viewing him as a potential starter alongside Pedri and Gavi when some of the club's more experienced players move on.

Veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets could leave this summer upon the expiration of his contract, while there has also been question marks over the long-term future of Franck Kessie.

It may be harder for Bajcetic to break into the Real side if he does move there. Despite missing Aurelien Tchouameni and, from the start, Toni Kroos against Liverpool, Carlo Ancelotti's midfield still put in an outstanding display, with defensive midfielder Eduardo Camavinga particularly impressive in a more natural position to the left-back role he has been playing this season.

But the Reds will be desperate to keep Bajcetic at Anfield for the long-term - and Fichajes add that they are not interested in any offers for the young midfielder.
